Many runners prefer cross country to track. Not only would they rather run in scenic parks than in circles, but cross country is more of a shared experience.

Thus team titles are cherished in cross country, as they will be Saturday in the high school state meet at Terre Haute.

This year's individual races have entirely different looks for girls and boys.

On the girls side, there are so many contenders that as many as 10 could become state champion.
